Healthy Hydration
Did you know that staying hydrated is an essential practice when receiving massage? Our muscles create and store metabolic waste, unusable to the body ⏤ they are transported via the lymphatic and circulatory system for excretion.
When you receive a lymphatic massage, the gentle manipulation of muscle tissue stimulates and promotes the release of metabolic waste or toxins; at a faster rate than the body would naturally process.
This is one of the the healing benefits of a professional lymphatic massage. It is an amazing practice for overall health and wellness. In some cases, the release of toxins can cause muscle soreness; resulting in headache or a general feeling of malaise.
Being well hydrated can help your body flush these toxins faster and greatly improve your post massage experience.
While the amount of water needed for ideal hydration levels will differ with each individual, drinking a minimum of 2 to 4 cups of water in the first few hours after massage is quintessential self-care.
